a dry spot in the rain

photos from the car by ezra finn

constant rain is pretty unfamiliar to me

it feels like everything unknown happening around me,

everything that comes with moving 2,231 miles west

the car, however, is not specific to a place,
you can always expect how it will be

it's always in transition, never a destination

that makes it a safe, familiar place to me

in the rain, but staying dry

the students i met at northwest felt like one of these safe places

a dry spot in the rain

i was introduced to lots of different pockets and communities in portland, none of which i could see myself a part of

my visit at northwest was the first time i met faces i felt like i knew, people i resonated with

after my visit, i thought that just maybe at this school, i could get used to the constant rain.
